| In the torque-strong Ford Focus World Rally Car, a Sachs clutch system made up of a 3-disc Carbon clutch and a hydraulic release system are used. Both components were developed and consistently optimized together with the Ford team since project start in 1998. Due to the special nature of rally application requirements (dust, water, ice, etc.), this project put extraordinary demands on our team. As a result, and (almost) indestructible clutch system, which gives optimal performance both in race starts as well as with “softer” starts at the rally intermediate stops. Continuously rising demands and modifications in the drivetrain of this high-performance vehicle call for undiminished readiness from our clutch engineers to develop new detailed solutions. |
