Vehicle: Sauber Petronas C23

In the chassis area, Sauber depends on both the four-time performance adjustable Formula dampers as well as the weight-optimized fixed variant. The four-time performance adjustable damper makes it possible for the engineers to make quick modifications on the setup when testing on the 7 post bench or on the course.

These results are then implemented during the race weekend in the lightweight version. In the race, the weight advantages make it possible to position ballast in the vehicle accordingly. Depending on the course characteristics, the correct weight distribution will improve handling and traction.

In the drivetrain area, and since entering Formula 1, Sauber has been exclusively using Carbon clutches from Sachs. They have been improved on a regular basis and optimized in countless bench and vehicle tests. The team was development partner with the smallest to-date Formula 1 racing clutch, the GMFZ 3/97 Y, which was first put to use in a race by the Swiss team in 1998.
